PEP-BIOccIA: AI and the future of public service

Since a year ago, the Senate's Foresight Delegation has been focusing on AI and the future of public services. Their work has resulted in the publication of several reports, including one dedicated to environmental issues (*), which was released a few days ago.

The good news is that among the projects and tools cited as examples is the PEP-BIOccIA research project, led by the Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée Region, in collaboration with OPenIG, CNRS, and our team.

Did You Know? Soils harbor a quarter of all currently known living species on Earth.

Bacteria, fungi, plants, mites, worms, mammals... Soils shelter a quarter of all currently known living species on Earth.

Long overlooked, these ecosystems are now receiving increasing attention, particularly due to the essential services they provide to human populations: carbon storage, support for agricultural and food production, erosion and flood prevention, water purification, and contributions to medical research.

It’s the culmination of more than three years of work.

On Wednesday, December 18, our colleague Marie Soret will defend her doctoral thesis at the Maison de la Télédétection in Montpellier.

Her subject?
"Improving the consideration of species, their ecological needs, and the local landscape context in connectivity models for territorial planning."

What if we stopped "making room for nature"?

For several years, at TerrOïko, we have been defending another idea of biodiversity protection and its consideration in urban planning and construction projects.

Our CEO Sylvain Moulherat went to present its main aspects this week during the innovation meetings of the "Lab Public Works and Infrastructure," supported by the National Federation of Public Works and IMPULSE PARTNERS - A FAST LANE FOR INNOVATION.

Forbes, a research project to facilitate sustainable financial choices and CSRD reporting

What are territorial planning stakeholders lacking to better consider biodiversity in their projects?

Effective tools and mechanisms that allow them to guide their funding decisions and evaluate their impact.

So, we decided to address this issue. This is the focus of a research project named Forbes ("Regionalized Financing Tools for Biodiversity Management by Companies") that we will be starting in a few weeks.

Meet'Up GreenTech 2024: what we said about urban biodiversity

On October 15 and 16, we were at Meet’Up GreenTech 2024, held at the Parc Floral de Vincennes. This is the annual gathering of innovators dedicated to ecological transition.

Our president, Catherine de Roincé,  participated in a roundtable focused on urban biodiversity, centered on the question: "Can local innovations transform our cities into sustainable ecosystems?"

Ecological Networks, ERC Sequences, Natural Spaces, Infrastructures...: A Recap of Our Studies in 2023

The life (of a consulting firm) is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.*

Now that the year is coming to a close, we can say that in 2023, we were treated to a nice assortment.

First, one number: 50, which is the number of missions we have won, either alone or in partnership, since the beginning of January.

In half of the cases, these are "territorial" studies, on behalf of local authorities or natural areas:
